What is Flushing of the Skin & Why Does it Happen?

Today there are more toxins in the environment than ever and many skin care products on the market contain ingredients which can be harmful to the skin. Some of these ingredients can clog pores, strip the skin of its natural lipids, disrupt the skin's pH balance, suffocate the pores causing enlarged pores and even dehydrate the skin. In addition; many skin care users mix a variety of different products from different brands causing the skin to become confused. For optimum results and good skin health you want to avoid using different brands of products. Skin care products are formulated to work together and once you start mixing in different brands they no longer work synergistically. 

L'BRI products are formulated to correct the skin and to bring a healthy balance back to the skin. When first starting to use L'BRI products, some individuals may experience a mild flushing of the skin in the form of blemishes and/or a slight peeling of the skin. For some individuals these blemishes/breakouts will be small tiny bumps for others larger blemishes. Even though no one likes to break-out, this is actually a good sign, showing that the skin is responding to the L'BRI treatment and that the skin is eliminating impurities. Sometimes this breakout period may last 3 to 5 days and for others a bit longer - 10 to 21 days depending on the skins condition prior to using L'BRI products. 

Please keep in mind that this is a flushing and not an allergic reaction. Very few people are allergic to L'BRI products. A true allergic reaction would include itching of the skin along with redness. Some individuals may also experience a slight peeling of the skin. This usually only lasts a few days and is due to the removal of dead cell build-up on the skin. Aloe, which is the first ingredient in L'BRI skin care products is known to be a natural exfoliator and helps to speed up the removal of tired dead skin cells. Should you experience any signs of correction, do NOT stop using the product. If you stay the course, the end result will be a much younger, smoother and healthier looking complexion!

L'BRI tip on making it easier... How to Pluck Eyebrows

Have you ever had redness or pain after eyebrow plucking or waxing? 

We share a L'BRI tip on making it easier... How to Pluck Eyebrows with Less Pain 

1. Use a sharp pair of tweezers and a magnifying mirror

2. Prep your skin by taking a shower or laying a hot towel across your brows. This opens up your pores and makes hair pliable – a perfect time to pluck!

3. Sit down in front of the magnifying mirror, and, if possible, elevate it to forehead-level. 

4. Pull your skin taut in the direction of the hair growth. For example, if you're doing your right eyebrow, pull the skin around the brow right. 

5. Pluck in the direction of the hair growth. 

6. Apply a bit of L’BRI Aloe Vera Barbadensis Jelly or any L’BRI Moisturizer as they all contain aloe that helps ease the redness and pain. 

7. Enjoy your new look! Major plucking projects hurt but smaller maintenance plucks really don't.

Skin Care Ingredients to Avoid

L'BRI vs. the Competition By Linda Kaminski, President & Founder

There is quite a difference. I use Aloe Vera Barbadensis as the first ingredient in all our Skincare formulations while most other skin care formulations use water. Why water? It is more readily available and, of course, less costly to the company. I encourage you to take a look at and compare other product ingredient listings. I do not use waxes in any of our skincare formulations. Waxes, such as beeswax, carnauba wax, candela wax, and paraffin can clog the pores creating enlarged pores, blackheads, and whiteheads. We also do not use any mineral, petrolatum, or lanolin oil. These are considered "skin suicide" ingredients because over a period of time they can actually dehydrate the skin. L'BRI products are also free of drying alcohols. Any product that says, "keep away from the eye area" should be avoided. These drying alcohols can cause the "lipids" of the skin to become brittle over a period of time. The lipids actually begin to flatten out causing the skin to lose its contour -- similar to a balloon losing air. My goal in formulating L'BRI was to create a natural skincare line using ingredients that would heal and nurture the skin. We use an abundance of herbs, botanicals, and vitamins.

INGREDIENTS TO AVOID 

After researching different products for many years, it was interesting to note that many companies claimed that their products were natural. However, when researching the ingredients, we found that these products contained only a small amount of vitamins and herbs that were commonly found at the END of the ingredient listing. That means that the amounts were included primarily for what is called "good label copy." Legally, they can say their products contain natural ingredients, but the amount is so small that they do not really benefit the skin. L'BRI products are free of any synthetic fragrances and artificial FD&C dyes. Any coloring we use comes from nature: such as chlorophyll from plants, beet juice, and vitamin B12. What makes L'BRI unique is not only what is in our products, but also what is not. A nickel is too much to spend on a product that contains "fillers" such as waxes, crude oils, and harsh preservatives, DEA, BHT, and others. Our mission, of course, is to educate consumers on what they use to take care of their skin. Every company says their products are the best, however, by reading ingredient labels you will be able to see for yourself if the products you are using are really pure and natural.
